Introduction

Australian Event Protection (W.A.) Pty. Ltd., also known as AEP, was formed in Perth, Western Australia in 2005 by Royce Gatti and Craig Edwards. AEP has an impressive record of achievements, and a strong reputation has been built as one of the foremost providers of complete security, asset protection, safety and planning for events and venues all over Western Australia.

In a short period of time, AEP was recognised as specialists in event planning and security provision at major public gatherings. As an organisation, AEP started out specifically targeting the Entertainment Industry plus major events and is currently providing manpower and management to some of the Southern Hemisphere's largest public events. This has covered all avenues of the entertainment spectrum from musical festivals and sporting events to corporate launches. However, in recent years, AEP has branched out and has moved into new markets by supplying cost effective and professional security personnel on a full-time basis to venues such as Burswood Entertainment Complex, Curtin University of Technology and the Perth Zoological Gardens. As a result, AEP are able to provide capable security officers with diversified training, who can easily and quickly adapt to new venues and situations.

At AEP, we believe security services should be customer service focused and carried out in a public-relations capacity without compromising the safety of people, buildings or equipment. Whether your security requirement is big or small, we can customise a security package to suit you. Your safety is our business.

Key Management

Craig Edwards - Operations Director

Prior to 2005, Craig managed the security for the Sydney Royal Easter Show for 14 years, which is the sixth largest event in the world and the single largest event in Australia held over a 2 week period.

The key areas of his responsibilities included managing the security, ground operations and the emergency planning infrastructure. The Royal Show attracts over one million patrons each year and involves the coordination of all patrons, over 35,000 livestock and animal exhibits, in excess of 500 commercial exhibitors as well as large entertainment and carnival areas.

For the past two decades, Craig has played an integral role in providing safe and secure environments for venues ranging from small executive functions through to larger scale high profile events such as: The Sydney Darling Harbour Complex, 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, Sydney Royal Easter Show and the Big Day Out.

Craig also played an integral role during the Sydney 2000 Olympics and Paralympics Games by being involved in all areas of site security and emergency management.  Additionally, Craig liaised closely with the Sydney Olympic Park Authority, Olympic Security Command and the Australian Defence Force and was involved with operational and security issues across the entire Olympic Precinct.

Previously, Craig was a member of the Australian Defence Force in the Army Reserve, and was later attached to the 3rd Royal Australian Regiment (Parachute Battalion) for 10 years.  In the Defence Force, Craig gained extensive experience in leadership, team management and development skills.

Craig also has a vast experience in overseeing all Occupational Health and Safety policies, procedures and regulations.  This includes risk management strategies, procedures for safety, implementation of all crisis and emergency plans, as well as training.

Royce Gatti - Managing Director

Royce has 15 years experience in commercial, financial, administration and personnel management for some of Australia's largest resource companies and has also managed his own Resources Industry recruitment company for the past 6 years.

Royce brings to the AEP team a commercial know-how, strong organisation and administration skills, personnel and recruitment experience.  Having a strong background in office and operations procedures, Royce has a good base for managing the large events and numerous personnel that are part of the AEP business.

Royce is also a licensed security officer and crowd controller, as well as being the holder of the AEP WA Security & Crowd Controller's Agent Licences.

In 2007, Royce was appointed to the Western Australian Government's Security Industry Advisory Council which has a direct line of contact with the W.A. Minister for Police and Emergency Services.

The combination of Craig and Royce's strengths has seen significant penetration into the W.A. security market in a short period of time, securing event security management at most major events in W.A.
